Le Boat making headlines!
This 2021 season has been an exciting one for Le Boat as we have been featured in news, magazines, and top blogs and highlighted as leading provider for staycation holidays in Canada. We may not be travelling far this year, however a houseboat holiday on the UNESCO World Heritage Rideau Canal is worth checking off your bucket list.
Ottawa Life Magazine
Ottawa Life Magazine
Beginning with our most recent coverage, Le Boat was featured in the Summer 2021 edition of Ottawa Life Magazine in their article “Add a ‘Le Boat’ Rideau Canal staycation to your ‘Le Bucket List’”. The article is in print now and will be available on their website in the next couple of months. The article by Dan Donovan discusses the history of the Rideau Canal in Canada, describes the process of learning to drive your boat, and outlines their 7-day journey from Smith Falls to Kingston and back.
Ottawa Life is available in print at newsstands and by subscription. They also publish each issue in an app for tablets and smartphones, available for download through the App Store, Google Play, or Amazon. The web site, ottawalife.com, features the full contents of each print magazine, plus daily articles, posts and blogs from Ottawa Life writers and artists, as well as podcasts, videos, interactive graphics, and submissions from featured guest contributors.
Mommy Gearest
Lifestyle and Travel Blogger and Social Media Influencer Andrea Traynor, or Mommy Gearest, travelled with her family for 6 days south on the Rideau Canal to Jones Falls and back to Smiths Falls. Known for sharing “honest reviews related to all-things-family,” Mommy Gearest is heralded as one of Toronto’s “top 30 ultimate mommy bloggers.” She described Le Boat as “The Floating Cottage” and rather than trying to book cottages in prime summer months by the week, you can book Le Boat for fewer than 7-nights and “if you don’t like where you are or the weather looks better a couple of hours away, you simply float away to a better location.” You can read the entire blog post here and you can follow Mommy Gearest on Facebook or Instagram. You can watch her tour of the Horizon 2 boat here.
The Planet D
In June, Le Boat was thrilled to have Dave & Deb from the Award-Winning Travel Blog, The Planet D, onboard the Horizon 3 for 8 days travelling south on the Rideau Canal. They also made the journey from Smiths Falls to Jones Falls and back but travelled at a more leisurely pace. For most people, their experience with the Rideau Canal is skating in Ottawa, and this was the same for Dave & Deb, but they describe taking a cruise on the Rideau Canal as “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and to be able to do it in style at your own pace while driving your own boat is a huge bonus.”
Since 2007, Dave & Deb have visited 115 countries and all 7 continents. They have worked hard to become a leading travel source and have been named Top Travel Influencers by Forbes Magazine. Read the entire blog post and follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
Quirky Cruise
Also in June, Le Boat welcomed Quirky Cruise Contributor, Judi Cohen and her family, as they spent four days on the Rideau Canal from Smiths Falls to Colonel By Island and back. In the article published on July 14th, Cohen described how excited she was to book a Rideau Canal houseboat adventure after 17 months of COVID lockdowns in Canada. The article highlighted ease and joy of operating your own houseboat on the canal, describing the boat’s side thrusters that move it easily from side to side, “If you can use video game controller, I assure you, you can operate the boat thrusters.” By the end of the trip, Cohen and her family reflected on their adventure, and they were all “grateful for the opportunity to disconnect from day-to-day issues, and reconnect with our spirit of adventure, being in the moment with nature.” Read the entire article here.
