Filmed in Summer 2018
The show was filmed during Le Boat’s inaugural Canadian season in 2018. Le Boat had already been known as world leader in boat rentals and best known for their canal cruise vacations in 9 countries across Europe (with a fleet of 940 boats) when in May 2018, Le Boat expanded operations into the North America with the introduction of a fleet of 16 brand-new Horizon Cruisers onto the UNESCO Rideau Canal. The Rideau waterway stretches 202km from Ottawa to Kingston. It is considered to be one of greatest engineering feats of the 19th century and is the oldest continuously-operated canal system in North America.
Traveling this attractive waterway, Steve and his family headed south towards Seeley’s bay and were able to relax, unwind, fish, go kayaking and take in the spectacular nature, picturesque towns and lively cities of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Their cruise adventure began in the Le Boat’s North American headquarters and base located in the charming town of Smiths Falls Ontario (located in the heart of the Rideau and about a 1 hour drive from Kingston or a 45 minute drive from Ottawa). From there they travelled south on the canal to Big Rideau Lake, the Village of Westport, Chaffey’s Lock, Jones Falls and Seeley’s bay before returning to Smiths Falls .
New Base Opened in Seeley's Bay for 2019 Season
Since filming, Le Boat also expanded its Canadian fleet to 20 boats and opening a second base on the Rideau in the harbour at Seeley’s Bay!
The addition of this well-located base offers visitors the chance to discover even more of this spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site since, previously, only return cruises from Smiths Falls were available. Now, holidaymakers will have the opportunity to venture on return trips from Seeley’s Bay or to enjoy a one-way route between the two Le Boat bases, exploring new terrains for the entire trip.
Le Boat's Premier Horizon Cruisers
New for 2019, Le Boat is also welcoming four brand new Horizon Cruisers, including three of the Horizon 5 model designed for families and small groups. The Horizon 5 was introduced in Europe’s cruise market in 2018 and quickly became Le Boat’s most popular model. Measuring 14.74m x 4.35m, this luxury cruiser features five bedrooms and five bathrooms and sleeps up to 12 people. All Horizon models boast a spacious sundeck with a barbeque and sunbathing area.
